Average Joe 2: Hawaii
I just want to quickly say a few words about Average Joe 2: Hawaii, if I may. I'll be brief. Bottom line? -- Just as lame as the first one! I really liked Brian Worth. I liked his Boston accent, his sincerity, his sensitivity, and even his level of smooth charm. I also liked that he called people on their shit, when necessary. He seems like a good guy all around. I do think he scared Larissa away by mentioning the L-word, unfortunately, but he shared how he really felt, so kudos to him.
I always thought Gil seemed fake and annoying, and was appalled when Larissa described his guarded personality as intriguing rather than off-putting. I can't believe she chose him. I was actually really sad after the show, as I'd somehow gotten more emotionally invested in this crazy program than I did with the first one. Then the "surprise ending"? Are you kidding me?? For those who don't know, this chick used to date Fabio. She told Gil that after their romantic vacation, and it showed him being all upset and storming away from her. The vacation was over, so they both had to leave, and they left on "uncertain terms" because of the news she'd just broken. I turned to Joe at this point and said, "What the hell is happening?!" and Joe responded, "It's like we're living in some kind of alternate universe!" It was the weirdest ending to a show I've ever seen. Breaking up over having formerly dated Fabio? I... just... There are no words.
I watched The Today Show the following day, and was weirded out to see that Larissa and Gil are still together. I mean, maybe that's good? But she sat there and interrupted Gil a lot, and came across (to me, anyway) as really bitchy and shallow, far different from the seemingly deep and thoughtful girl from the show. I admit, I'm very disappointed, overall. The whole experience was oddity at its very peak.

I love the way you describe people, your prose, its refined and hip.
Maybe you can write eulogies for people.
You are the coolest Meg!
